Texas Window industry is better and cheaper then marvin, pella, and anderson. They can cut your budget in half and I put them in million dollar homes. Millworkman I believe my comments regarding my terrible experience with J. Johnson Lumber and Marvin, while not giving 1 star, certainly conveys a non recommendation. I have also given both of these companies actual 1 star reviews on Houzz as well as many other sites.

I don't know if you had a bad experience with them, but several contractors I have told my story to have told me that they too, have had a bad experience with them. I am amazed they are still in business. I have three Anderson French doors and I installed one more in my parents house.

All, all four, the handle would fall out and had to be repaired. I I also have two sliding doors. The hardware here is very chincy and does not give a solid feel of locking. Very poor hardware. Also have three 6x4 sliding windows. All three are very hard to slide.

They are too heavy and the bottom track, I think is poorly designed. The only Anderson windows I like are the casements of which I have a many. Next house will do Pella, if needed. The windows are fine, but I am not crazy about the sliding doors.

Especially the screen doors. I agree with clangton They have been adjusted several times and still pop off the track, don't slide well, and scrape the paint off the track. I have Pella in my Northern NJ home and they are awful- arrived with chips and rub marks; Pella's solution to that was to send me a box of about 20 little bottles that looked like black nail polish bottles to do the "touch up" myself black clad exterior , which I didn't do because I thought it would look worse to dab that on all over a house full of brand new windows.

Also, many of the windows don't close properly, even after we have had their tech out numerous times; so I end up crawling out on the roof in the snow to push them shut from the outside!
